Mothers day in my pink world

Mother's Day usually finds us on the Atlanta Botanical Gardens tour of private gardens and this year was no different. We had a near perfect day for garden viewing,
My peonies are in bloom so I have been feeling very happy to be able to cut so many to make small arrangements inside.
New birds arrived to live in the new aviary which I will post soon. The  cats and dogs saved up and bought Mama some rose body lotion from Laduree in Japan. They had to plan ahead since things take a few weeks to arrive from Japan.
Hope your Mother's Day was wonderful

Peonies for later

Well, peony time is over-- it lasts about a month here in Marietta. Just like putting away the Pinkmas tree I am always a bit sad about the end of peony blooms.
I dry the ones that are pink and then store them in an airtight box and use them at holiday time for my little table top dried flower tree. I freshen it up every year. I also use some of them on packages or little gift arrangements. I think they look pretty drying in my Laduree green kitchen.
It helps me prolong my peony time.

Marie Antoinette has lunch with her dressmaker

Happy Pink Saturday

I am reprising my MA tablescape from about a year ago. I 've been having trouble with the updated blogger especially in loading photos.
This tablescape was inspired by reading about her dressmaker and pretending that the Queen and her dressmaker were out on the grounds of Petit Trianon lunching and discussing dresses,, bird watching with opera glasses and just enjoying the day.

Pink inwell-- last one and peonies

Happy Pink Saturday! Join Beverly at:

Well my inkwell obsession is ongoing. But I must stop-- running out of places to put them in my small home. This is the final purchase ( at least for a long time) so dainty and pretty. It is Dresden or Limoges I believe. Not too expensive I collect only what I find pleasing. What a more gracious world it used to be. A time when people took the time to sit down and write letters and thank you notes.

I cut some peonies and mock orange from my garden to show you too.

Pink Saturday and pink thoughts during grey winter weather

During winter I feel like doing this ( Simone-Marie age 13) Simone hates winter too
These are sure colorful and look I see blue sky!

My beloved peony I count the days till I see them in my garden again

It is Pink Saturday again-- enjoy more pink posts at: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ Thanks to Beverly for hosting again.

Winter grey skies and rain have been getting me a bit down last few weeks. These are not the winters we used to have in the Atlanta area. I guess almost everywhere in the country it is icky.
So I give you some perky pink flowers and blue skies to cheer you until the weather does better by us all. To see more pink posts just scroll back to last weeks posts.

Pink and white peonies

The rain is supposed to come tonight and hard rain. I picked these fully opened peonies today to enjoy them so the rain doesn't ruin them. Ran out of vases so used a biscuit jar that goes with my old tea set. Paula Pryke would be proud of me using a nontraditional container--see yesterday's post if that name doesn't ring a bell.

I could look at them for hours- so soft and dreamy. Hope they bring you some serenity.

Peony power... Do Tell !

Peonies seem to have a strange power over me. I am obsessed with them. To say I love them is an understatement! I rush outside each morning to see who is open and count buds! I talk to them a little (nutty -I know) and I wish I could stop them from ever fading. They are so soft to the touch softer than other flowers I believe. I do cut a few to bring inside. I now have 58 peonies and just ordered two more for fall planting.

I think of them as my "garden children" and I love sharing their beauty with others. Alas, I am afraid my peony garden party will be a bit late and guests won't see many of them at their peak. I thought with the cooler spring they would be opening later. My current favorite if one can have a" favorite child" is the single Do Tell it is unusual and so delicate.

I love sharing them with you and I hope they help you to
