Peonies for later

Well, peony time is over-- it lasts about a month here in Marietta. Just like putting away the Pinkmas tree I am always a bit sad about the end of peony blooms.
I dry the ones that are pink and then store them in an airtight box and use them at holiday time for my little table top dried flower tree. I freshen it up every year. I also use some of them on packages or little gift arrangements. I think they look pretty drying in my Laduree green kitchen.
It helps me prolong my peony time.

Cat cookie jars... ahmmm

It started when a friend found the cat cookie jar right above the black and white cat. It is a vintage McCoy cookie jar. I loved it too so I went on Etsy and found two like it one for me and another for my friend. So all 3 of us have same cookie jar. Then of course I had to peruse the other vintage cookie jars and buy a few and now it seems I have a cat cookie jar collection ha Then today I received another cookie jar first one with mama cat and kittens as a gift so we are officially crazy cat cookie jar lady. I use "we" as the royals do meaning me. Ha see the craziness is seeping in already.

Serene painting captures my heart

A few weeks ago I was up in Woodstock, Georgia for tea and stopped at a new shop there Ivy Manor. Ivy Manor is a retail store and office to interior designer Mary Elizabeth Wilson.. The shop is lovely it is in an older home and has some really beautiful things.Mary Elizabeth offers her design services as well and things are priced reasonably to be affordable luxuries.

While I was walking around I saw this painting and when we left I mentioned it to Pink Boy. Well, over the new few weeks I kept thinking about it and I even had a dream about it! I grow white Annabelle  hydrangeas and the background on the painting was so pretty --a pale pink with some gold very serene.I even loved the French vintage frame.
I decided I needed to go visit it again and see if it could come home with me.

So now I have this little beauty in my home and we are both enjoying it. We loved the antique frame and the artist Cheryl Connelly is from Hollywood, Florida. Her work has a fresh quality influenced by Impressionism. Ivy Manor will be hosting and event with her in June--more on that later.

I've learned to trust my first feelings about art and if something really catches my eye I usually buy it and am glad I did.
Ivy Manor is a delightful shop that I plan on visiting often.
