So sorry computer sick

Dear Blog readers I have an ill laptop and it is in the shop. So until it returns I cannot do any new posts no photos file in Pink Boy's computer. I hope to be back by end of this week.
I have fun things to share: a new swan, more flowers.

Charleston in bloom

A fun vacation in Charleston is always a good idea. After the hard winter we had in Atlanta area I was ready to go! Strolling the streets, eating wonderful food and sharing the time with good friends makes for a great trip.
I am always delighted by the thought that Charlestonians put into their window boxes. Everything is pretty in Charleston.

A stroll with friends...

Sometimes you just want to walk and visit with your friends. A slow ramble in the countryside is always pleasant. Not much has changed in our desire to walk and to connect with our girlfriends. A nap afterward is always nice too!

Swan clothing

Swans also inspire fashion. Love the wedding dress why didnt they have something like that when I married? I would wear a swan wedding gown maybe even a veil with a feathered band

After the ball

With my interest in vintage hand fans I always like finding paintings that show women with their fans. Artist Conrad Kiesel from Germany was originally trained in architecture and then discovered his love of sculpture and painting. These two works of his show women with their fans. Love them. Especially the second painting called After the Ball.

Lilac time

I've always dreamed of having enough lilacs to gather armfuls of them and bring them into the house for scenting the rooms.
We are finally at a point  in the garden that I have enough lilacs growing that I can cut some from each one and have them to bring inside! This is so thrilling to me. I adore flowers and the scent of the lilac is one of my favorite. You don't often find perfume that has that subtle scent.  I tried to place the lilacs near seating or along paths. After nearly 17 years in this home the garden is maturing enough to really enjoy.
This past winter so hard on it lost several huge climbing New Dawn roses and lots of confederate jasmine over the arbor is dead.So sad.
Well we must look on the bright side--I still have lilacs and peonies coming and iris, pink salvia , lots of roses and clematis to enjoy.

Why oh why can't I ?

Why can't we all live near beauty like this? Why cant we all have great neighborhood flower shops? I see photos like this or places like this when I travel and I really envy those who live near such beauty. I hope they notice it and don't take it for granted.
We are still not having a normal spring here too cold and many windy days blooming blooms away.
Right now my redbud tree is in full bloom and it blooms for about 2 -3 weeks and I enjoy it every day. I wish I had planted two. I got a PINK redbud tree, bien sur! What else would Pink Girl get?

This French TV ad for some dessert borrows from the 2006 Marie Antoinette movie visually and it is a lovely ad.Looks like fun. Just more proof that Marie Antoinette has never left our memory.

Serene painting captures my heart

A few weeks ago I was up in Woodstock, Georgia for tea and stopped at a new shop there Ivy Manor. Ivy Manor is a retail store and office to interior designer Mary Elizabeth Wilson.. The shop is lovely it is in an older home and has some really beautiful things.Mary Elizabeth offers her design services as well and things are priced reasonably to be affordable luxuries.

While I was walking around I saw this painting and when we left I mentioned it to Pink Boy. Well, over the new few weeks I kept thinking about it and I even had a dream about it! I grow white Annabelle  hydrangeas and the background on the painting was so pretty --a pale pink with some gold very serene.I even loved the French vintage frame.
I decided I needed to go visit it again and see if it could come home with me.

So now I have this little beauty in my home and we are both enjoying it. We loved the antique frame and the artist Cheryl Connelly is from Hollywood, Florida. Her work has a fresh quality influenced by Impressionism. Ivy Manor will be hosting and event with her in June--more on that later.
I've learned to trust my first feelings about art and if something really catches my eye I usually buy it and am glad I did.
Ivy Manor is a delightful shop that I plan on visiting often.
