The Queen's shoes

Marie Antoinette's shoes these sold recently for about $82,000.00
Shoes in Marie Antoinette movie 2006
 Manolo's made for the movie

One of the fun parts of the Marie Antoinette movie of 2006 was the shoe scene. I loved seeing all the shoes and those images seemed to stick with a lot of bloggers and Marie Antoinette lovers.
A pair of her real shoes sold in Paris at auction recently for around                $82,000.00! They are pink and green (my favorite colors)and in pretty good shape for cloth shoes.
On this eve of her birthday I thought it would be fun to feature her shoes --real and movie variety.

Chinoiserie pumpkin from Martha Stewart

Happy Halloween!
Martha Stewart had this Chinese dragon on her web site. It won her pumpkin contest. It has 10 pumpkins and 400 toothpicks and took footballmom3 52 hours to create.
We are getting ready to scare the neighbor children with our costumes so

French yum

The French word for yum is Miam and it seems there is a pastry shop by that name in Paris. I will have to check it out next year when I am there. Pink Boy has said we will go for sure in 2013. Life is too short not to travel while you are healthy and can walk a lot!
So till I can sample all the macaron and pastries at Laduree and Miam and Pierre Herme I must console myself with these lovely photos.

Pink macaron and pink kisses

I love the little bags of pink meringues from Laduree--I used to call those kisses not sure what the French call them. I love pink macaron and Laduree and Pierre Herme always have new flavors/parfumes to go with the change of seasons.
The last photo is one I found on flickr just such a pretty color I wonder if those are rose flavor? I do like rose flavorings and often add rose to creme brulee or iced teas. Join in on Pink Saturday at:

French armoire is here

My linen armoire arrived this past week early! They shipped it from UK air freight. They packed it very well and it is very well made. I bought it on-line from the French Bedroom Company website.
It is a reproduction I will use it for china storage and table linens. I made inside cover over the mesh using just a glue gun and scissors.  Pink Boy used copper tubing to hold the fabric panels he made the drapery rod. It is slightly curved and a dowel rod didn't look proper. I feel so organized now. And now all my table linens are in one spot. No running all over looking for place mats or napkins. Storage should be pretty.

Trinket tray storage

Pretty storage, especially if it is in plain sight, is essential. I am enjoying the last dahlia of summer and my new vintage tray I found in a Madison, GA. shop. Always fun to add new things to the dressing table area.

Objects of desire continued

Found these lovelies on First Dibbs! I just adore pearls especially pearl bracelets. The bracelet is Cartier. I have a bee pin ( Joan Rivers) very cute this one is all gold and I am sure well made. I love older pieces they seem to have more substance to them somehow. Both are classics.
Always fun to look and dream
