Halloween treats a la Martha Stewart

I got this idea from the Martha Stewart Halloween magazine. She sure loves this holiday. She made them with chocolate madeleines but I opted for brownies without nuts and I fixed the marshmallow skulls on with a bit of chocolate icing. The eyes and nose in skulls are black frosting i put on with a toothpick and actually made a hole.
The mouth is a cut and you cut the sides of the big marshmallow with scissors to give it a skull shape. I gave these treats to the neighbor kids, postal carrier etc. We do candy on trick or treat night but these were extra.
I think the treating time should always fall on the Saturday closest to October 31 it would make life easier and who wants to go out on a school night?

Happy Halloween! I love this holiday--the drama, the spooky stuff, the ghost stories, the fog machine we have going and I always bake some special treats for some of the children I know.

I do have a beef with Martha Stewart--the cello bags barely fit around the picket fence treat holder!! That was scary trying to get it in without ripping the bag!

So even though it is Halloween ...

Avoir Paris, avoir Laduree..

We are leaving my beloved Paris and my tummy already misses the French baguettes and Laduree treats. I should say I am waddling away from Paris. I actually lose weight here but I feel like I should gain with all the pastry I eat. Walking it off is fun here.

Soon we will land in Atlanta and back into real life. But as I vow every time I visit, I will be back and someday I will live in France--even if it is only for a month or a summer. It is on my bucket list as they call that now. I will have so much to tell you and photos to share about this trip. I hope I learned how to use the new HD digital camera I got right before we left.
