Spring blossoms to chase away the grey

Rice flowers I need to get some of these! So pretty
I am officially over winter! For those of us in the South it has been a brutal winter. I have lost so many plants due to the ice and sub zero temps we had this year. I am very upset. It could be worse I guess and my walled in back garden is probably in better shape than many open gardens. All I know is that my creeping fig is a goner and I am ready for a Paris spring! Spring in Paris is enough to warm our hearts a little after this boring cold winter.

God is in the details

We have all heard that famous quote-- fittingly for this post it was said by architect Mies van der Rohe- but no where is it more evident than at Versailles, The details are amazing and were not only artistic but also a visual reminder that the King is the state and is  God's representative on earth. No matter how many times I see photos or visit Versailles and the grounds I am always enthralled by the details. We seem to have lost a lot of that" detailed"thinking and ability to make things with such attention to detail.
Therefore we must enjoy it and learn from it when we happen across it as you do often in European buildings, at historic properties, in museums, in fashion and in pastry.

More Marie Antoinette and Versailles informaiton ...please

Beautiful fans from 2006 movie Marie Antoinette
 Private theatre at Petit Trianon
This is where Marie Antoinette selected her clothing for the day.
Private rooms of Marie and Louis XVI before they were King and Queen

I am anxiously awaiting the release of anew book A Day at Versailles. I have read that the book shows many private or hidden places that you normally do not see on the tours there. April 1 is the release date. The above pictures are of some of the areas not normally seen on the tours. Every thing I learn about Versailles and Marie Antoinette (and before her time) Madame de Pompadour is fascinating to me.
Someday I will spend a few months in the town there and do more research.
The private rooms are,of course, on a more intimate scale and really give you a feeling of how they lived.
If I can't be there I like reading about Versailles,

Pink is everywhere

Pink is joy- Pink is a lifestyle

Everywhere I go I see pink. I do think it is more prevalent now than ever before.  I hope it stays popular. I have loved pink since I was a toddler. I wore a lot of pink-- still do!
Find what makes you happy, do it, go towards it, hang out with people who are happy.
Life is too short to hate your job. You can change anything and make it better. For me, being positive and having a lot of pink around me makes me stay positive--it is a sort of perpetuating cycle pink equals happy happy equals pinkness. Ha
Find your pink!

Stalking Karl Lagerfeld and other Paris activities

Well,I will be in Paris soon and hope to catch a glimpse of Karl himself, I have stalking on my mind!! ha ha. What would almost be as much fun would be to see Choupette, his cat, being driven to and from her vet appointment (daily I hear) and on to other outings.
Soon I will be standing on my favorite spot on the Pont Alexandre, soon I will be eating pastries and walking walking walking. I urge you, dear blog reader, to make time for travel while you are healthy don't put off trips till retirement or wait for some perfect time. GO NOW grab on to life and live it, shake all the good out of life and walk, walk walk see the world. I return to Paris as often as I can but I also want to go to other countries as well. Japan is high on the list as is Australia and Hong Kong.
