Black swan pins and pink sachets

My new swan pin is resting on a peony sachet
Glittery swan pin by Joan Rivers via QVC. Sachet from Whispers from the Past

How I would love to have pet swans again. I miss "my" swans

Welcome to another Pink Saturday hosted by the wonderful Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Please click on her link to visit more pinkness posts:http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Swans and ballet are intertwined in my mind. The ballerina Anna Pavlova (yes of the dessert fame) loved the role of Odette in Swan Lake and she even had a pet swan.

J'adore swans and jewelry! I have been a customer of QVC 's Joan Rivers Collections since early 90's Her costume jewelry is well made and well priced. When I saw this black swan on her web site I waited anxiously till her QVC visit began and bought the pin online before she even showed it on the air. I was right to do that. It sold out in 20 minutes she barely had it in front of the camera.

I still have not seen the movie I waited for so anxiously- - Black Swan--everyone told me it is too violent and disturbing for me. I so wanted to see the dancing and costumes. Maybe I will rent it one day and speed through the gory or disturbing parts.

Black or white I love all swans and for now this wonderful and glittery pin is resting on a pretty pink sachet created by Roberta at Whispers from the Past until I attach her to some tote or jacket collar.

Odette tutu one of my treasures!

I think I mentioned before that I have a real ballet tutu made by the costume designer of the former Cleveland Ballet. When I lived in Ohio I had her make me a real tutu that I wore to a costume party and to hand out treats.

Now that I have a dressmaker form I decided to find my tutu and put it out in master bedroom where I can enjoy it for awhile. I thought I lost the top part --it ended up in another closet from the bottom part.

I was too thin when I had this made ( due to dental surgery I couldn't eat or drink well for about 6 months) and it doesn't even fit a small dressmaker form!! I had to pin top on with a huge gap in the back. I think I was only 98 lbs then. Yikes!

Most people never see one up close- there are two pieces to the bottom -a mesh pantie attached to the layers of tutu. Best way I find to clean is to immerse the bottom of it in bathtub water with mild mild soap and air dry. The top is a corset really boned and very tight even when I was thinner!

I was supposed to be Odette in Swan Lake so all white. I picture myself soaring up in air on stage! ha It is a fantasy.

Have a PINK day!
