Marie Antoinette cup cakes!!!

I saw these cute cupcakes on Pintrest!! Aren't they really unusual and clever? This is the trouble with looking on  Pintrest you see neat things like this and want to know more!
I wish I knew who made them. I think the top (her body) is made with that modeling clay bakers use. Any one know anything about these. I would love to order some or learn how to make them! What fun although I feel they are probably labor intensive.

Pastries and Paris

Laduree counter in Printemps department store

 Gerard Mulot near our hotel

I thought you may enjoy seeing these pastry photos of our September trip to Paris. I enjoyed all my pastry treats that I ate while there. Of course, my nasty cold kept me for tasting some of them! C'est la vie!
It always amazes me how perfect the pastries are and how they sell out in shop after shop thousands of pastries each day consumed by Paris residents and tourists.
It is one of the things I love about the city the seemingly endless supply of fine pastry.

Doorknobs of Paris

I have so much fun in Paris looking for the unique or unusual and I find many unusual or quirky doorknobs. I did a post on the doorknobs a few years ago and found some new ones on this last trip! Some seem to tie in with the business and others are just pretty. One of my favorite things about Paris is that beauty and art are everywhere even in doorknobs.
Enjoy some of the unusual doorknobs of Paris.

Pink closet stool makeover

Before- a bit dated and bottom a mess
After smooth new slipcover
Show and Tell Friday at
My Romantic Home

I've had the little stool for over 20 years and it was time for a make over. The bottom was scuffed and the cats keep get caught up in the elastic on the fabric edge at the bottom.
They use the stool to sit and watch me get dressed --sometimes I even get to use it to sit to put my shoes on!
As soon as it went away to be slip covered the cats noticed right away it was gone. They hate change.
Now everyone is happy once again with a pretty new slipcover and a place to perch!

Pink Boy in Paris

Pink Boy always has fun in Paris. Between eating and admiring cute doggies and taking silly pictures he is a happy tourist. This trip I became ill half way through so I had to cough and sneeze during many nights .
He was good about his interrupted sleep. Even sick I still enjoyed my trip.He loves that doggies go everywhere in Paris.

258 years ago today Marie Antoinette was born

Was she a diva? Was she spoiled? Was she naive or just ignorant of regular people's lives? Was she French at the end? Was she in love with someone other than her husband? Was she a good mother?
We are not sure of any of those answers but what we are sure of is that she still captures our imagination and she is still talked about, written about and reinvented even today.
I love all these current reinventions of her and of her "look".
Happy Birthday and rest in peace Marie Antoinette.

We always dress for Halloween and we get about 200 treaters. This year we pay tribute to that all American classic TV family The Addams  Family.
It is always fun scaring the neighbor kids and creating the atmosphere and fog and music too.
It is part of my pink living philosophy to enjoy each holiday and be an active participant in holiday rituals and fun. We didnt wear pink but we are pink powered!
