Hotel Ritz --Paris not your usual viewpoint

Bon jour. This may strike you as an odd post --that is ok I understand. Paris is always on my mind and today I found the photos to go with this post.

Everyone it seems wants to stay at the Ritz in Paris at least once. I doubt I will ever be able to afford to stay there but I did take tea at the Ritz --outdoors in front of a large hydrangea bush. It was delightful. That is one photo above.

While there I had to visit the powder room. It was the most beautiful powder room I have ever been in and I have seen some very pretty ones in show houses and in other hotels and resorts.

The room is sort of round and the walls are all boiserie in a cream shade so soothing and also cozy and grand at the same time.

Another fun thing to do at the Ritz ( and you do not have to be a hotel guest) is to take some cooking classes in the basement at the Ecole Escoffier- the school is named after the first Head Chef of the Ritz. Auguste Escoffier created the Peach Melba dessert. Some classes are filled with professional chefs or pastry chefs. I happened to be in one of those but my" food French" is pretty good and they had a translator so I was fine. My chef was a bit of a stand up comic so it was not stressful at all. Next trip I may try tea again and I am sure I will pop into that pretty first floor powder room.

Oh and one other neat thing about the Ritz-- ladies you hook your hand bag onto a little thing under the table top so you don't have to place those Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags on the floor! All restaurants should do that!

Cold night ----time for a cup of tea

Cold weather is not my friend. I am not happy unless it iabout 73 outside. I only want cold and snow on Christmas day. I spent too many years living in cold and had frost bite a few times!!

So during these extremely cold for Georgia days I resort to space heaters, hot tea and more of my organizing of closets and shelves. I like to sit snuggled under a pink throw and drink my Marie Antoinette tea from Laduree. I do not make hot water in a microwave-- Quelle horror!! I make it on the stove in a pink tea pot bien sur.

If I am not reading while I sit and sip I like to look at some of my many photo albums. Several of the albums are just full of pictures of my girls ( 3 dogs one cat) doing fun stuff and then we have the travel photos and party photo ones too. Memories are so special and when you have the time it is fun to look over old pictures and dream of returning to some of those vacation spots.

Laduree and tea

I adore Laduree tea and the Laduree tea salons in Paris and London. It is often that I bring back tea and other goodies as gifts from France. Laduree makes the best macaroons in delightful pastel shades and flavors. the French line up for the pleasure of buying them. It is chic hostess gift to bring a box from Laduree.

A real treat for me is having a cup of tea ( I like the Marie Antoinette blend) in my Petite Trianon demitasse cup ( Raynaud china ) . I use the wrapped sugar from Fauchon ( too bad Fauchon closed their shop in NY city) for my tea. The French do not use the loose sugar we use here.
Since my monogram is that of Marie Antoinette and this china was her traveling china that had her monogram on it I just love having it-makes it extra special and it has enough pink in the pattern to make it pink enough for my pink world.

In this hurry up busy world it is still a civilized pleasure to stop for a few minutes each afternoon and have a cup of tea and catch your breath. You can pretend to be in Paris.
