Time to create something fun

Another snow day for Atlanta area. I feel like creating something fun today. Of course most of what I make is pink. I am going to go look at an inexpensive sewing machine. I have ideas for Valentine's Day.

Here is a peek at a tiny portion of my crafting goods- I keep everything in boxes since we don't have an area/room for crafts. Notice the pink scissors and seam ripper? A pink measuring tape is in another craft box. Always looking for more pink things to use in my pink world.

I have some yummy hearts and butterflies in another pretty box- what if they flew together somehow?

Hmm will let you know how it goes....

Pink hot chocolate on a cold,cold night

A dear friend sent me some pink hot chocolate. I will make it soon --it is only about 20 degrees here now. I didn't know hot chocolate came in pink !! See always finding new pink ways or things to make life fun.

When it is so cold and icky I try and bring some color into the house usually with flowers as I have done in the photo today. It is amazing that one can get almost any flower any time of year.

While checking out some new blogs I found an amazing person , Joy Gabler,who hand colors little paper birds--see above photo. I plan on buying some from her to use on packages, or on the pink and white Christmas tree or maybe just perch a few around the house on mirrors. She also adds some glitter and ribbons to them. That is a sure way to brighten up a spot-- perch a glittery bird on top of a mirror. I think in Marie Antoinette's day she would have loved these birds--perhaps she used something like them in one of her towering head dresses. Some of the hair styles had full battle ships and live animals and women had to bend down to avoid hitting top of doorway!! When I think of that I am glad not to have been born then. Although the bounty of beauty during that time was astounding --when you look at the furniture and china and music and art in a way I would love to go back to that era. I will expand on these areas in future posts but right now I just want to stay warm and drink my PINK hot chocolate !

Pinker and pinker...

My world is always getting pinker. Lest you think I have shown you all my pink items --au contraire-- I have been collecting and using pink items for over 30 years and people often gift me with things they think I need or do not have.

I have decided today, since it is the best day for new beginnings, to do more crafts in 2010. Here are a few shots of my many pink accoutrements that are in use daily. Do you know anyone else with a pink seam ripper or pink knives? The pink Harrods tote was a gift from my wonderful friend Debbie Nelson. I swear when I see pink things or pink flowers my heart beats faster!!

Now that I am a devotee of blogs I see so many creative ideas and so many pink things--I am not the only one .I may be the longest pink lover and pink buyer but I am not alone. Even my husband buys pink shirts for himself now.

Let me be more creative this new year and make my life even pinker because for me:

Pink equals happiness!

Les Girls et Joyeux Noel

There was a wonderful old movie called Les Girls from 1950's or early 60's Rex Harrison and Gene Kelly and Kay Kendall were in it. One of my favorites since is about dancing and musicals and Paris- some very pretty costumes and of course Gene Kelly dancing-- just divine. What makes me think of this is we call our dogs "The girls" or Les Girls in French.

I have my own version of Les Girls- three beautiful Maltese- I have a mother and daughter Simone-Marie and Sophie-Marie and another one Sydney-Marie. They love to have adventures, go places , go for stroller rides in their pink dog stroller and all time favorite activity is opening Christmas and Birthday gifts. We had another Maltese Zsa Zsa for 15 years and she learned to open gifts from Mother-in-laws dog Muffy. She taught next Maltese and so on . They caught on really fast when they opened their presents that first time. I wrap them in pretty holiday tissue so they can tear into it easily. It is so fun on Christmas day to watch them. We refer to them as the girls( Les Girls in French) and they lead a pampered life. I like that their skin is pink and they are all white ( Maltese are always all white) and we decided to get a dog when we were in Paris the first time. We saw all these Parisians with their tiny dogs and sometimes not tiny dogs going everywhere and we loved it.

So I always associate my girls with Paris because that pushed us to getting our first Maltese baby. My girls all love pink and have many pink accessories and blankets and toys. they are sturdier and smarter than many people expect- just because they are tiny doesn't mean they aren't just as smart as a big dog.

I am not the only one counting the days till Christmas in this house
