Sir Cecil Beaton was a sort of Jack of all trades in areas of artistic endeavor. He took photos of famous people and many of the British royal family. He worked as a war photographer, designed costumes, did interior design work,wrote books, he was on the best dressed list and hung out with actors, and society women.
I have long admired his photographs and costume designs. My Fair Lady, Gigi and Coco film fashions are Beaton's creations.
Collecting his books is not only fun but fascinating reading. He designed his own book jackets and they are hard to ignore who wouldn't want to read one of these vibrant books?!
It is fun to enjoy his art and his travel notes and slip away from this time period into another.
