Pink Paris windows continued

We kept walking by this children's shop. I wanted to buy that pink rose covered dress for a child so badly. Pink Boy's reasoning kept me from buying it for someone. Even he thought it was quite fetching but still nixed my idea of bringing it home.

I could just see a little girl twirling around in that dress a blur of pink happiness. There was also a matching handbag. How sweet is that?

Pink Paris part deux

Even the ads are pink in Paris! I actually have these PINK jeans. They are from Top Shop in UK and fit very tight and have a low waist. The ad is so Parisian- the girl, the new techie item, the pink jeans. Everyone wears skinny jeans in Paris- it could be because generally they don't have hips and they look good in skinny jeans. Most people wear black or grey but I did see some pink pants too and I left mine at home! AARGH !

Lack of Pink ,tight jeans was mildly depressing. I bought them for the trip then forgot to bring them. I will have to return soon and wear them ( are you reading this PINK BOY?) before the style fades. Sounds reasonable to me.

Help dear blog readers- my blog is sick

Dear blog reader- I am having lots of trouble with my blog today. I can't post a photo when I post my next text it says RPC server not available and I can't add a gadget to the right side ( another photo) anymore. I hit the design tab and it doesn't take me to a place to add a photo.

So I may not be posting until either someone knows what is wrong and emails me or until I find someone locally to help me. I have so many photos to share of Paris trip. If you know the answers to this or can direct me to someone please email me. Please think postive pink thoughts and maybe things will get better.

Pink Paris

I don't think I am imagining things but the world seems to be getting pinker all the time!! I don't think it is just because I adore pink that I am noticing it more often--I truly feel it is pinker. I couldn't be happier. Here is a pink and white tutu window display in Paris at Repetto. It was one of the first photos I took this trip. I have all my spots and shops I must visit and I really felt the impact of PINK in the city this time.

I have so much to share and so many photos to put on as we catch up. I hope you had a wonderfully pink week while I was away. Every time I am in Paris I am always amazed by the style all around me-- from the windows to the way they set a table, to the way food is presented, to the way they tie their scarfs! It would be impossible to live in Paris and not have some of this rub off on you. Visit Claudia's blog My Paris Apartment ( click on name at right) to read her observations. I agree 100% with her. The French are helpful, stylish, lower key, and love to present whatever they do with flair.

As I catch up on my daily routine here I will be getting ready to share more of my latest Paris visit. I just kept seeing pink and more pink all over the city.

No place like home

As much as I love to travel, especially to Paris, I love to come home. I miss my house and the girls, of course, and my garden. I miss my fluffy down pillows and I miss getting mail!! Isn't that weird?

I am back and in happy pink spirits as usual and will give details soon about a give away (my first one) on this blog. A hint, it is something I brought back from Paris! Off for a quick nap to dream pink Paris dreams.

Avoir Paris, avoir Laduree..

We are leaving my beloved Paris and my tummy already misses the French baguettes and Laduree treats. I should say I am waddling away from Paris. I actually lose weight here but I feel like I should gain with all the pastry I eat. Walking it off is fun here.

Soon we will land in Atlanta and back into real life. But as I vow every time I visit, I will be back and someday I will live in France--even if it is only for a month or a summer. It is on my bucket list as they call that now. I will have so much to tell you and photos to share about this trip. I hope I learned how to use the new HD digital camera I got right before we left.

Is a Paris gala in my future?

When I was a child I thought that Paris was such a fancy place that people dressed up all the time and went to balls, and galas most every night. I didn't think people really worked there and I never thought about things like street cleaning or strikes or workaday issues we all face no matter where we live. The innocence of youth!
I must confess that even now I think that at any moment maybe someone will ask me to attend a ball like this one (another Vogue shoot by S Meisel) and what would I wear?!! What fun to swirl around the dance floor in an elegant gown. I can dream.

Two stylish chicks in the park

Great outfits for lounging around the park in Paris. Steve Meisel shot this for Vogue in 1994. Perhaps I will catch a glimpse of these jeune filles among the shrubbery?

I will tell you allabout my encounters when I return dear pink blog readers

Maybe I will meet this Mademoiselle ?

I wonder if I will see any fashion shoots on the Parisian streets? I might run into her! this is what I would wear to lolly gag around on the bridges and streets. Love the hat. I love black and white dressing. In fact, I am taking mostly black and white clothes so who knows maybe someone will take my photo? This was in French Vogue. Maybe I will be in French Vogue?
Don't hold your breath...

Bonjour Paris bonjour Rene Gruau

I wonder if I will be greeted by this lovely lady in Paris? Isn't this image magnificent? Rene Gruau was an illustrator who captured the spirit of beauty, style, Paris, so well. I love all these ladies and ads. His work is highly collectible. I hear that sometimes you can buy nice prints of his work along the Seine at those artist booths. I will be looking.

I wonder who I will meet in Paris

Sometimes I see famous people in Paris-especially around the Saint Germain area or at Angelina. I wonder if I will see Dita wearing Valentino as in this Vogue photo above? That would be a treat. I love Dita. Or perhaps I shall see the lovely lady all dressed for a night at a gala? She may be hanging around my hotel or in the nearby Luxembourg gardens.
Half the fun of travel is talking to people and making connections.

Madam Marie Antoinette a la Sucre

I am so excited to be going to see the private apartments in Versailles. I am counting the days. Here is a lovely rendition of Marie Antoinette in sugar! She was made by a Japanese sugar artist.

Another testament to her allure is that 200 years later we are still talking about her and learning about her and even making her image in sugar and paper arts and doing movies about her.

Oh, Peony where are you going?

Happy Pink Saturday dear pinkness. Please visit How Sweet the Sound to find more blogs with a PINK post today. So many lovely bloggers out there. In keeping with my travel theme I found the photo above for you.
The lovely peony picture is from Rachel Ashwell's blog. She tied it onto her LV luggage on recent trips. She says it was a great conversation starter and she sure didn't lose track of her luggage. It is such a PINK GIRL type of thing to do. I love it!!

I will have to keep my peepers open for a huge peony to adorn my luggage (my luggage is pink, bien sur) soon.

Where or where did Peony go? If she could only tell us!

Fashion, style, Paris!

Absolutely one of most beautiful images of Paris and fashion that I have seen. These photos that I find stick with me for years and years. How I would love to be in that outfit too!

"Fashion fades, only style remains the same." Coco Chanel stated. How true, non?

The Farm

This garden was on the Douglasville Hydrangea Tour last year. It is a large property with many intriguing areas. This is another example of a garden house on a grander scale. It is also wired for electricity if I remember correctly. I liked the cupola and weather vane a lot. They have horses so the weather vane fits their style.

Another place I could spend hours in reading or just enjoying the views. I hope the garden is on the tour again next year.

A house in the garden or is it a garden in a house?

Clever bunny Tara Dillard created this house in the garden on site at Le Jardin Blanc in Douglasville, Ga. She used found objects in very clever ways. The bed is on big terra cotta pots, the awning over the side door is part of a drainage culvert , the windows are found as is the door. The flooring is pea gravel and it is a perfect spot to laze away a summer afternoon, nap, read a good book, maybe have pink daydreams.
Can't you just picture yourself there? Tara creates these for clients. I wish I had room for one.

Le Jardin Blanc

In Douglasville, Ga there is a magical place called Le Jardin Blanc. It is part garden, part shop, part tea room and a site for parties and weddings. Susanne Hudson, whose garden you met in the last few posts, in involved with this business. It is all white and oh so clever. I always find inspiration when I visit. Tara Dillard (see link to your right) has also helped Le Jardin Blanc with landscape design.

It may not be "pink" but it is" pink" in spirit. Anyplace so lovely and creative meets my idea of pink living. Click here to learn more: http://www.lejardinblancga.com/

Watering cans , rakes and hoes this is the way this garden grows!

A few more delightful shots of Susanne Hudson's Douglasville garden from the tour. Such a whimsical , witty use of old gardening implements. I am going to be doing some serious trash stalking now to find some of these things for my own garden to make into something! That is the great thing about a tour--you always get some good ideas.

When is a window not really a window?

Happy Pink Saturday! Please go to How Sweet the Sound (link to right) to see other blogs and visit some blogs that are new to you. Pink hydrangeas on a mailbox with a white watering can. So clever and perfect for PINK Saturday.

The Douglasville, Ga. garden tour called the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival, was this past weekend. It was so fun. These windows hanging in the garden at Susanne Hudson's garden are always a joy to behold. Ms .Hudson has many little rooms/vignettes throughout the garden. I love her use of found items, and these wonderful windows that create the sense of a room in the space of an open garden. This is pink living in my book- she takes items and makes them into a knockout visual --enhancing her life with something that is so simple yet creative.

More lovely gardens will be coming on future posts. Lots of the gardens featured hydrangeas in all colors many PINK ones of course!!

Pink dress with tulle and SJP

This is one of my all time favorite ad photos. I do think Sarah Jessica Parker is a stylish woman. This is an ad for her perfume. It is perfect for a PINK post don't you think?
I love that she isn't looking at the camera. It is a real mood shot.So pink and pensive don't you think?

Lingerie Paris style a la Chantal Thomass

Why do we love lingerie so much ? The French surely do--so many lovely shops in Paris full of lace and satin and black net! This image from French lingerie designer Chantal Thomass is a favorite. So fun and flirty.

Her shop on rue Saint Honore is all pink and girly, like stepping into a giant bon bon box. Tres expensive but lingerie is not meant to be practical or cheap. I think Mme. Thomass has a pink day all the time! She has even designed for Minnie Mouse.

Maybe I will come home with an item from her boutique who knows?!

Float like a swan

I love this photo of a mama swan and her babies. She is paddling away and yet she looks like she just floats on that water.

Today I am going to be the mama swan- I'll take a deep breath, relax and paddle yet appear serene and in control. Many tasks to do to prepare for the trip and other projects around the house to complete.

How about you- can you be a swan ?

Shoes!! More shoes!!

With the movie Sex and City 2 out now-- my thoughts turn to shoes. Shoes played such a big part in the TV show and were a focus in the first movie. I wonder if they will be a part of this movie too? I have yet to see it.

Planing my wardrobe for Paris is fun and a bit stressful --especially now with all the baggage limitations. My fear is that I will not be able to walk a lot if my shoes hurt at all. So I will not be taking many high heels- flats for me. I want to walk and walk. On the Today show today the showed some new products for making feet comfortable a stick to rub on heels to soften them and another product to put on your foot if shoes are pinching. I must get the anti pinch one and be prepared. I will be wearing styles above in my head as I wander the Parisian streets in my flats!

I love a pretty bed

Some days I wish I could just stay in my bed all day. I love my puffy bed with many pillows and luxury bed linens. I also have a good reading light and I face my pretty fireplace. My bed is cozy and on rainy days it is sooo hard to get up! The second bed came from the blog Beautiful Things to Share click http://beautifulthingstoshare.blogspot.com/

I loved these beds too very Charlotte Moss in style and also grand and cozy at same time. I ,of course, have a bed mainly dressed in pink bed linens but any color would look wonderful on these beds. I could stay in the bed and just dream and float away.

More pink houses

The Atlanta and Marietta areas of Georgia are full of very lovely homes--anyone driving through Buckhead or Vinings can tell you that. I look for unique homes not just big . I look at proportion and details and how the house is set into the lot. I wish I could develop a community. I have all sorts of ideas on how to make it a real community. The areas that appeal to me tend to have a village feel, or the residents have the ability to walk to shops and services in the area.

I am always on the lookout for pink homes- and this home above is not only PINK it is very French. It sits in a group of just a few homes off a main road. It is what the French call a bastide-- a country house sometimes in South of France. A bit more rustic than a Parisian home or city home.

The shutters and the cobblestone courtyard area are correct. I wonder if the people that built it have traveled to France and stayed in a home like this? When I pass it I take an instant mini vacation to France!

Le Jardin Rose...

Happy Pink Saturday! Please click on Beverly's link How Sweet the Sound to look at other pink themed blogs today.Link is to the right.

In keeping with pinkness here are a few shots of my garden of flowers blooming right now. I always look for pink plants at the garden shops and in catalogs. I have a dahlia that is getting very big and I believe it will open to a pink flower. It is the first year for me growing a dahlia.

My favorite color for roses has always been pink- especially the soft pinks. they seem to settle into the garden better and look so lovely in moonlight. We added more blush Knockout roses this year.I have New Dawn and Mortimer Sackler (also a pink climber) climbers too.

The lavender is waist high and smells so clean when you brush against it. The top is Pentas an annual, Mortimer Sackler, pink Yarrow and pink Astilbe. The last two are perennials.

Miss Lola

We have added a new member to our family here in Marietta Ga. Miss Lola the 11 month old Yorkie has arrived to live with my pink-in-laws at assisted living. Lola is the perfect dog--sweet, playful, quiet, loves to snuggle, smart. She loves to chew her nylabone.

She has brought such joy to Pink Boy's Mom. I couldn't have designed a more perfect companion for Mom. Lola loves to meet and greet other residents and staff and she loves to come visit us too. Mom chose her name and it fits her so well.

Lola is all of 4.4 pounds and she truly is a furry little angel full of love! She loves her pink bed I got her and her pink and green carrier. She is style and grace.

PINK all the way!!

Lest you think my PINK love is superficial take a look above. If you have followed me for awhile you may have seen previous posts showing pink pots and pans and pink toilet paper and pink china.

While I am getting ready for my Paris trip I am doing some spring cleaning too and thought you would like to see some of my various kitchen implements that are pink. Not too many people have a pink rolling pin, pink snack bag closers in breast cancer ribbon shape, pink cookie cutters, and the best pink (or any color) can opened by Kitchen Aid. Also, pink bottle stopper, pink knives. Wish they still made paper towels with pink print on them.

I also have the pink mixer, blender, toaster, coffee maker, hand mixer, food processor and many bowls, quiche pans, bread pans and other tools all in pink. I don't mess around ! Pink is such a big part of my life it is second nature to me and even my friend's children know I love pink and they see pink things and tell their mothers I would like it since it is pink. What a hoot!!

Pink lemonade in the garden

I love pink lemonade and I love to sip it in the garden. Someone told me recently that Trader Joe's has great lemonade. So I bought some today.

OMG it is fabulous and I don't even usually like sparkling stuff. The red berry sparkling lemonade is beyond yummy. It is PINK YUMMY.

I also found out there are real pink lemons-- which of course if you are lucky enough to find them, will allow you to make real pink lemonade.

Tonight I sat alone in my garden listening to the birds, sipping my red berry lemonade and I just felt so joyful-- what a nice treat, what a nice way to spend some quiet time, what a lucky PINK GIRL I am to have such a PINK life and so many PINK friends and PINK blog readers!!

Time is slipping by quickly

Well, it is almost time for me to leave for la Belle France--my little vacation in Paris! I am so happy to be going back again. I never tire of Paris. I am staying at my favorite small hotel in the 6er it is a former abbey for nuns I believe.

This is the house that inspired my dollhouse/stereo cabinet. The artist copied this picture.

I am sure I will be walking by the real maison soon!

Any suggestions for my trip? I always try to do at least one new thing besides my usual trips to Laduree and department stores, museums, parks and this time the YSL exhibit. Have you done something really fun there or something you feel most tourists would not know about? Leave me a comment and maybe I can experience it too and blog about it when I return.
