Vintage linens for the table and other treasures

I love nothing more than setting a pretty table. To me the table setting is as  important as the food being served. I want guests to enjoy the entire experience.
I want them to feel pampered a bit and excited about the meal. Over the years I have been slowly collecting vintage and new table linens mostly placemats and napkins.
The placemats above are all vintage from 50-80's all spotless and so pretty with all my china patterns. I just got another candle holder in pink mercury glass at Michaels --it goes with all my china. The Marie Antoinette book just came out this year and it is a treasure I love having tea and a cookie and reading it.

Swan gift and Herend china

I do not think I shared this before but these are two Herend gifts I received for Pinkmas this year. The swan is in the fishnet raspberry pattern and the tiny trinket box with the cute rose  matches my china and tea caddy and ginger jar all in that lovely raspberry color.
The Herend china is so pretty I love all the patterns but am sticking with two in raspberry. I noticed on Downton Abbey last night Lady Grantham (Cora Crawley) had Herend in the orange colorway on her tea tray in bed.

Armand loved the Pinkmas tree

Armand is our funny little silver persian with a crooked neck.
He is one year old.
He has a lot to do everyday: inspect the refrigerator, check out the ice dispenser, look into the dishwasher, watch birds inside and outside of the window, and during the holidays he had to nap amidst the tulle under the big tree.
He would stare at the lights for hours and sleep and snore a bit. As soon as he left another cat would take his spot. Everyone loved the pink tulle!

With a little help from flowers

These January days are not my favorite.
It is the let down from Pinkmas and the weak light that get to me. I don't begin to perk up till Valentine's day!
Look at the lovely blooms I bought at Trader Joe's. So fresh and I love the tiny cabbage--flowers help a lot to keep my spirits up.

A lovely doll

Happy New Year everyone!

Well it was a very busy holiday season, as you probably guess from my lack of posts.
My older brother passed away suddenly in November and that was a shock and I felt  like I was treading through jello for a while.
His death just goes to prove my point that life should be beautiful, filled with friends, family and pretty things or whatever makes you happy because no guarantee of a tomorrow.
I have begun collecting dolls that look like Marie Antoinette found this one and trying to figure out how to purchase it . It is on a Russian dolls web site.
Anyone read Russian?
