Hidden in Paris novel

If you love reading and love stories set in Paris this book is for you! I read about it on Linda's blog Une Petite Folie and ordered it from Amazon. The author spent her first 20 years in France and the novel reflects that intimate knowledge of Paris and the French. It is full of interesting characters and one of them is Paris ! You will want to hop on a jet as soon as you finish.

Mr Cason's Garden

A spot to rest every garden needs this

Mr Cason's Garden is my favorite part of Callaway Gardens. It was the spot where they filmed the Victory Garden years ago for PBS. It still seems like a movie set so pretty and neat.

There used to be more in the little kitchen garden and they used to sell stuff in one of the small buildings- soaps, candles, produce, herbs. It is still fun to see.

We enjoyed walking through it .

This is the fabric I chose for all my dining room chairs and table skirts. I love all the items shown in the fabric and it goes well with the red lacquer walls in my dining room.

It is fun to look at this colorful fabric daily and even at Christmas it blends well with all my holiday decorations.

A visit to Callaway Gardens also included a visit to their new Farmers Market open and free to public . I bought yummy onions 6 for $1.50 partly because the color was so fabulous and we did use them in omlettes.

The radishes are the first to come from our own potager out back. I love the taste, the color and the ease of growing radishes. I am growing more veggies this year in an effort to keep grocery costs down- -they go up as oil goes up not a very pink thing to think about but even pink girls need to be practical sometimes.

Organza Oscar de la Renta

This just is so perfect in every way. Image is from Vogue, I think, of Scarlett Johansson. I love this bolero or jacket. I love organza. So dramatic. Where would I wear it? Could I make something similar--these thoughts flash through my mind the moment I see the image. How I love Oscar de la Renta!

Rose Cottage Bakery and Cafe

So charming and the staff is so warm and friendly
Pink Boy and friends eating well inside

Cozy shop like atmosphere in the cafe

Freshly baked breads and tea food
She pulled back the curtain for me

Outside seating and lots of tables inside too

Pretty ladies room the mirror is for sale!

Fabric covered walls and ceiling in the ladies room

Our new favorite cafe is in Pine Mountain, Ga near Callaway Gardens. We had friends in for the weekend and took them there. It is a very colorful cafe full of freshly baked breads, cookies, tarts, pies and homemade soups and lunches. They sell some decorative items in the cafe and the women's rest room is so pretty.

We met the owner and chef John Makin and he told us his secret to the wonderful blueberry tart we had.
Chef Makin was very friendly and his staff allowed me to take these photos. We had a fun day of browsing the shops, eating at Rose Cottage and visiting Callaway Gardens.

Barnsley Gardens come and see the beauty of the place

The shell of part of the house I still feel love and peace here

View away from the house

Covered arbor and the scenic overlook

Roses bring the old stones to life

View of the old stone ruin all that is left

Horse drawn carriage and walking path

Pink roses tumbling everywhere

Cottage amid the roses

Clip clop is such a soothing sound
Ruins and the garden

We spent Easter at Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville , Ga. We usually go there for Christmas Day as well. I love it in the Spring. So nice to walk the lanes, see the horse drawn carriages (Pink Boy didn't want to ride) and admire the gardens and cottages (that you rent) built around a little green park.. The food is yummy too. Golf and charming vistas round out the Barnsley experience.

I love history and Barnsley Gardens is history you can walk through. It was spared during the War Between the States only to be consumed by fire and then finished off by a windstorm in 1906.

The home was built for Godfrey Barnsley ( who was one of Margaret Mitchell's models for Rhett Butler) for his wife Julia Henrietta Scarborough of Savannah. I love GWW movie so much I know almost all the dialog, so does my brother, and my husband thought all Southerners knew it by heart! ha

Come and walk the estate with me and see all the pinkness in flower and feel the spirit it still holds.
