I am so enthralled with ribbon work right now. I hope I can learn how to make roses and buds and little scrolls with French silk ribbons.
I bought this little purse on EBay a few weeks ago I adore it. I have it on my mantle with a few other vintage items.. I bid on the exquisite bonnet on EBay and lost-- very disappointed as it was a superb example.
I enjoy sharing my treasures and they inspire me to try to learn new things. Living my "pink" life includes enjoying things from the past while learning new things in the present.

These little ladies beguile me! So fetching dressed in their finery and with their hair up or fancy! What do they do while sitting on your dressing table-- I imagine them chatting or comparing their outfits. Sometimes they are pin cushions or the handle for a powder puff. Many of these ladies are French or German. My half doll needs a friend so I am looking on Etsy and Ebay for the proper lady.
I hate boring pin cushions and powder puff make them pretty with a half doll!
Ribbons are another passion and I am lucky to have Nicholas Kniel Ribbon shop so close to my home. I have been seeing wonderful silk ribbon work items on Etsy and Ebay and Pinterest lately and now want to try my hand at making something simple that I can apply to some other fabric or box.
It all looks totally beautiful and creative. Wish me luck I enjoy seeing these wonderful feminine treasures.
One on-line shop that offers a lovely selection is a Japanese web site Eglantyne:
They have many pretty things and it gets to USA rather quickly. Happy Pink Saturday join in at: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/
I am entranced with fluffy pink poppies and every year try to grow them from seeds. I never have had any flowers bloom. Some times I will see green starting then they die. I plant in sunny spots partly sunny spots and nothing happens.
Does anyone have any tips for poppy culture in the Southeast? I think they fry here even though I start them in early April or late March. I've been in other Atlanta area gardens where they grow and flourish. I've asked the owners what they do to get so many and they all say, " Nothing they just pop up." AARRGH
Any comments and tips will help make my pink life even PINKER with pink poppies.
This was a Pinkmas present from my cats--they saved all year to buy it for me they say. Meow! Cats are thoughtful like that. They knew I would purr when I saw this pretty pattern.
It is Haviland Schliger trimmed in gold. I read somewhere that there are over 50,000 patterns! Some made just for a department store. How will I ever find any more like this. I guess I can email photo to Replacements. Or I can search for more that are similar they dont all have to match. Maybe that would be best for my sanity! What a prolific company those little Haviland people were back in the day.

More swan florals In my mind swans are linked with ballet and winter and flowers and poetry. I seek out swan things and would love a swan boat to float around our lake ! If I could redo my wedding I would add swan centerpieces and cake decorations. Swans mate for life. I always wonder what happens to the swan props from movies and ballet productions. I'd love to buy one but where would I put it? Pondering swans and their beauty is so much a part of my pink life. Have a Pink day!
