Sparkly garden

Pink Boy just added this pretty chandelier to our patio area in the garden.  I can't wait to use it. We could also put real candles in it too. I have lots of votive candles around the garden hanging from trees and on walls of patio area but having the chandelier now will really be pretty. Hanging in front of the wall mirror will make it even more fairy like!!
He already put twinkie lights around the fence and over a few arbors.

Peonies for later

Well, peony time is over-- it lasts about a month here in Marietta. Just like putting away the Pinkmas tree I am always a bit sad about the end of peony blooms.
I dry the ones that are pink and then store them in an airtight box and use them at holiday time for my little table top dried flower tree. I freshen it up every year. I also use some of them on packages or little gift arrangements. I think they look pretty drying in my Laduree green kitchen.
It helps me prolong my peony time.

Cat cookie jars... ahmmm

It started when a friend found the cat cookie jar right above the black and white cat. It is a vintage McCoy cookie jar. I loved it too so I went on Etsy and found two like it one for me and another for my friend. So all 3 of us have same cookie jar. Then of course I had to peruse the other vintage cookie jars and buy a few and now it seems I have a cat cookie jar collection ha Then today I received another cookie jar first one with mama cat and kittens as a gift so we are officially crazy cat cookie jar lady. I use "we" as the royals do meaning me. Ha see the craziness is seeping in already.

Serene painting captures my heart

A few weeks ago I was up in Woodstock, Georgia for tea and stopped at a new shop there Ivy Manor. Ivy Manor is a retail store and office to interior designer Mary Elizabeth Wilson.. The shop is lovely it is in an older home and has some really beautiful things.Mary Elizabeth offers her design services as well and things are priced reasonably to be affordable luxuries.

While I was walking around I saw this painting and when we left I mentioned it to Pink Boy. Well, over the new few weeks I kept thinking about it and I even had a dream about it! I grow white Annabelle  hydrangeas and the background on the painting was so pretty --a pale pink with some gold very serene.I even loved the French vintage frame.
I decided I needed to go visit it again and see if it could come home with me.

So now I have this little beauty in my home and we are both enjoying it. We loved the antique frame and the artist Cheryl Connelly is from Hollywood, Florida. Her work has a fresh quality influenced by Impressionism. Ivy Manor will be hosting and event with her in June--more on that later.

I've learned to trust my first feelings about art and if something really catches my eye I usually buy it and am glad I did.
Ivy Manor is a delightful shop that I plan on visiting often.

Collecting

I have fun with my little collections-- little things that link me to the past, to France, to a more gracious time. Lucky to get this latest inkwell. It is my only inkwell that has "little feet" so cute and cheerful. My Marie Antoinette figure and another inkwell, and a rubber Eiffel Tower erasure also share desk space.
Do you collect anything? Does it link you to another time? What motivates us to "collect"? Interesting questions to ponder.

China Cabinet redo

 My helper Snowflake Marie Mouser

Oops got another swan tureen had to move the pink rose one to the side
A friend spotted this great china cabinet at a local antiques mall. I had it delivered and it was an off white. Pink Boy repainted it for me in Annie Sloan white chalk paint no wax and it turned out well. He painted inside a pale pale pink on the back wood panel.
I needed more storage for my growing tureen collection I have 4 swan tureens plus my huge life size one.I think I am finished buying swan tureens. My other obsession is cabbage tureens and rabbit ones. So far no rabbit just a big cabbage one.
I think the china cabinet in the kitchen/family room area makes it cozier and now I can enjoy my tureens and other pretty vintage china.

Swan love and Spring dinner

Friends came by on their way to Florida so what better time than that to do a dinner with a Spring time feel in the mist of Winter? I will take any excuse I can get to hurry Spring along.
After 5 years of searching I finally found my huge Italian pottery swan tureen. I kept missing them when they came up for auction. I gather it was made in the 70's or early 80's by pottery studio Erna in Italy. I just love the look of her.
We bid on it and then in a special ,happy serendipity our friends the ones passing by staying one night on way to Florida passed right by the auction house in Ohio so they brought her to me! I had the smaller version of her that is cracked in the base.
It was meant to be I think. I have named her Cecelia and she is Queen of all my swans and presides over the dining room with swan like grace.
Dreams do come true! I love her.

Herend Chinese Bouquet

Pots de creme are useful little table top items. I will mainly use them for mousse or sorbet or possible yogurt with fruit. I was lucky to get these for Pinkmas. I love anything with a rosebud on the lid.The swan tureen lid came intact but the bottom of the swan is broken beyond repair so I will use lid for table arrangements.
I love to have fresh flowers in the house especially in dull months of winter. Trader Joe's usually has some pink and white flowers and this week they had white stock so fragrant.
I hope you use all your pretty table items. Don't save things just for dinner parties.
