Another pretty useful thing to enjoy

I've added this square inkwell to my growing collection. Now that I have storage in my revamped closet I can display some of my inkwells in there too. I like to use them for other things or just enjoy looking at them. I believe we should all use the things we collect don't put them away! Use the good silver and the pretty china life goes so fast and that special occasion may not arise. Make every day a special occasion.

Ribbon work tea cozy

This beauty I found on Ebay from UK. French ribbon work is so pretty. I love to have a cup of tea in the afternoon and this tea cozy keeps the tea pot warm so I don't have to rush!
I've been making floral arrangements for the house lately from flowers at the Saturday morning Farmer's Market on the Marietta Square and then I dry the larkspur and roses to use in potpourri. I add in some Queen Ann's lace and some roses from my garden to full the arrangements out.

Windows in Paris... look and linger awhile

Whenever I am in Paris I spend a lot of time window shopping-- trying to absorb the style and the creativity of their fabulous window displays! Their windows are so well planned- some simple and chic and others so full that you really have to study them.
When I am really homesick for Paris I look at my photos of the buildings and shop windows and take a mini mind holiday.

Garden tour

The Douglasville Hydrangea Festival and garden tour is always fun. Some highlights for me are the roses and the clever use of objects in the gardens. I couldn't get enough of the pink roses on the white fence and arbor. These garden tours are always a highlight of spring time for me.
You always pick up a few good tips or learn about a new plant. More on that later. I loved the garden art the last photo of the empty wine bottles hung on the patio. I hope each bottle was drunk with good friends.

Scatter my ashes at Bergdorf's

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's
is a new documentary based on the book of the same name

is a stylish telling of the history of New York fashion and a who's who of last 70 years. Jackie Kennedy and Vera Wang shopped here. Top fashion designers have their lines there. Ladies who lunch lunch there and the fashion acolytes worship here. Top level service as well as merchandise are the hallmarks of the store.
The documentary is out now in Atlanta area and I believe all over the country. If you love fashion, grand retail, mind blowing display windows and want to hear the praise of the fashion community run to see this movie.

Swans still appear in my dreams

I dream about swans quit often almost as much as I dream about Paris and shopping!
Swans are so beautiful and, to me, magical. These images I found just make me want my own swans.
Dream of swans and sunsets and Paris. How can I combine all three?

Old Haviland pattern

I love this old Haviland pattern but so far it has eluded me. I don't know the name or when it was made.
Anyone know anything about it? I want to make a pilgrimage to Replacements in NC but it is a long drive.
I love the old patterns with the gold edges and sometimes they are scalloped edges. But I really really like this one with the garlands and pink roses.
Drop me an email if this pattern rings a bell.

Summer dinner tablescape

Summer dinner in the garden is a favorite.Nothing says summer to me like dining outside on fresh food. I used Target aqua plates and pink textured plates for dessert.Textured plates came from Home Goods. Little covered vintage terrines were used to serve veggies and a wheatberry salad.
I love to put salmon marinated in ponzu sauce into a tin foil packet and bake it for about 15 minutes
Then I made an easy beurre blanc sauce with a touch of fresh dill to serve over the fish.. Easy and so yummy.
Ponzu sauce can be found at Whole Foods, Publix, Fresh Market .

Floral arrangement was 50% from the farmers market and 50% from my garden. I love Queen Ann's lace as a filler flower.

I love making a table with pinks and other colors.
The sheer table cloth was made to fit my patio table. I can throw it in wash.
