I'm so pretty

Miss Souffle-Marie is my observant cat--she sniffs and inspects everything. We just bought this mirror for the powder room and she had to be first to check it out. Then she seemed to enjoy looking at herself.
Souffle-Marie is from Good Mews no kill cat shelter. She is a sweet, shy soul.  She likes a quiet house with birds to watch and soft spots for sleeping. She has to enjoy the mirror now --when we put it up she won't be able to see herself.

Temps Passes

In times past the items pictured above would have been part of a lady's daily life. Gloves, bien sur, and a hankie very necessary. The small inkwell could even be part of a lady's travel items.
The vintage nosegay with the tiny cameo and hand died silk ribbons would have been a gift from an admirer or a token from a father to a daughter going off to a ball. In the language of flowers violets meant love and faithfulness.

The handmade sachet was/is a small treasure most ladies loved to have tucked away with fine linens or lingerie. The  violet nosegay is made of vintage millinery flowers and silk ribbons. I wonder who carried this treasure to a dance?
It is fun collecting all these things and fun imagining how they touched the life of someone before they came to me. I am searching for old dance cards now to complete my little imaginary dance. It feels so Jane Austen!

Pink ballerinas for Pink Saturday

I do not think I will ever get over my ballerina/tutu obsession. It is not so bad to be in love with ballet and tutus. I dream of floating across the dark stage in my pale pink tutu. Arms reaching upward.  Snow falling around me and the music is magic.
Join me on Pinterest to see more of my ballet and tutu obsession. Just search for Marie Arden.

Gardener figurine and Wow Us Wednesday

Wow Us Wednesday is here at Savvy Southern Style
link below:

This fine fellow followed me home from Queen's Antiques in Roswell Sunday. I love the color of his coat. He is ready to work in the garden. I just wish he has a lady friend to help him. He looks like a Dresden figurine but his finish is matte. He sits on my night table to remind me of the myriad of garden chores I must do daily.

Paris I miss you so much

My husband thinks I am a drama queen because I say I am missing Paris so much. I think Paris is essential like air or food-- to me. It is not glamour that I crave, it is not shopping that I crave, it is not even the food there that I crave. I miss Paris-- the million details and sights, sounds, and scents that make up this amazing city. The flair and beauty that seems to touch everything there. How clothes are worn, how a package is wrapped, how objects are displayed in windows. All the tiny pleasures one sees while on a walk I am happier there than anyplace else.
Paris I miss you... someday not too far away I will be back to see you again.
