Wrought iron gate

We need a pretty iron gate for our garden. Something like this would be nice. Searching for one at salvage places, fence places, flea markets, garden centers, so far no luck. I could contact a blacksmith do a custom one which would be nice but expensive. Any ideas my clever pink blog readers?
Since the garden is Charleston in feel I think a wrought iron gate is perfect.

Swan planter from Louisville, Kentucky

Pink Boy bought me this huge swan planter in Louisville, KY. on our recent trip to KY to visit my family.  It was grey and I like black garden things so he sprayed it black and drilled a hole in bottom for drainage. It is cast aluminum. It sits in a semi shady area. I put mint, boxwood, dead nettle and salvia  and vinca in it. Another swan planter and the largest one.

Strawberry fever

It is officially strawberry time! At Laduree in Paris and NY you can order their new dessert the strawberry. It is made with coconut dacquoise layered with strawberry preserve and strawberry mousseline cream. They also still have their wonderful Fraiser strawberry dessert as well.
Most of the Paris patisseries do a special summer dessert .
Carol Gillot of Paris Breakfasts blog (see link on right) is caught up in strawberry fever as well. Her June letter came yesterday full of her wonderful drawings of desserts and berries!
Hope you can enjoy some luscious strawberries this summer.

Paris on my mind

Always thinking of Paris and what is happening there. Many good exhibits at the moment and gardens in bloom.  I miss the color of the rooftops and the iron work. Miss the window displays and the rows of pastry in the cases. I wish everyone who wants to go to Paris could go it is truly beautiful.

Pink posies for you

Oh how I love getting fresh flowers from the Marietta Farmers Market every Saturday morning!
I usually do all pink or pink and white flowers only $10.00 and if I have some cleome or yarrow of my own in bloom I add those in too. I have been purchasing the giant elephant garlic blossoms you can eat them or put them in a vase. I am drying them to see if they hold up well enough to use on my small Pinkmas tree that is full of dried flowers from my garden.
Flowers fill a definite need for beauty.

St. James Court

St James Court in old Louisville's historic district is now a favorite of mine. I read about it years ago in Victoria magazine and finally visited it in person this weekend. Louisville has  many old historic building and lots of fleur de lys and lion images on public buildings so of course I liked that. Most of these homes around St James area and on 4th Street were built in 1860-1920s and many are Victoria style. Lots of good antique and architectural salvage shopping in Louisville and it is also know for fine dining and fine horses. Next time I will visit the race track.
I had to tear myself away from St James Court. A quiet oasis of beauty and greenery.
