My favorite version of Emma

I love all of Austen's novels and Emma is in the top two favorite ranking in my opinion. I have enjoyed all the Emma movies I have watched as well but this one with Romola Garai and John Lee Miller is my favorite. He was such a great Mr. Knightley and she a very plausible Emma Woodhouse. Michael Gambon as her father was excellent.
I felt that Romola Garai played her role with such kindness and love that it really rang true. While resting in bed from foot surgery I watched it again and enjoyed it just as much. The BBC does these period pieces so well. All the characters were quirky and yet lovable
Do you have movies that you watch over and over and love?

Pretties....

More treasures from my recent resale shopping trip. "Pretties" as my grandmother used to call things of this nature. Always looking for new scented bubble bath and the peony scent caught my eye.  It is fun collecting pretty gloves and dressing table items and ribbons. I use everything I collect and sometimes rotate the items around to keep it looking fresh.

Pink kitchen fun

On a recent trip to flea market type shops I found this pink cookie jar. It is so cute and see the sweet peas I picked today.  I am lucky it has been cooler here and sweet peas still blooming. Pink Boy found the little shelf in a thrift shop and repainted it for me. I put tea tins and cookie jar and my big bunny mold on it in the corner.
I will someday in future redo my cabinets and counter top in the kitchen and I really want it to look like a pastry shop so I will be looking for things that convey that feeling.Kitchen trends seem to change every 8 years or so and I think kitchen is looking dated. I still am lobbying for a pink refrigerator so far Pink Boy says no! AArrgh!

Boudoir lamps phase two

On a recent consignment and thrift store shopping spree I found these fetching figurine lamps! They are what used to be called boudoir lamps and they work and still have the original pale pale pink shades! An excellent price and they have come to live this next phase of their little existence with me.
I love finding things that have been well loved and cared for and now are ready to move on. They are perfect size for my bathroom vanity area. I had some other lamps there but these are much nicer figurines and more feminine.
I like to take bubble baths and just put one lamp on and it makes it so relaxing. I play soothing music and the cats usually gather around the tub wondering when I will come out. They are all scared of the bubbles... silly kitties.

Marie Antoinette in my head

While I am resting from foot surgery I have looked at some of my images from the 2006 movie and other pictures. I am pretending to be in France instead of in bed with a ugly grey boot on.
I wonder if I could jazz it up how would MA do it? I am sure it would have ribbons and perhaps some special fabric. I hate to waste material on the ugly boot.
Marie Antoinette was in her time a celebrity just like the ones of today she had her make up hair and clothing people come to her.It must have been so fun choosing fabrics all those shimmering silks and damasks.

Boo boo day

Some pretty images to calm and relax you and me! Today is my 6th foot surgery! I am a pro at it now. I must be flat with leg up for this week (in the ugly grey boot thing 24/7) and then next week I should be able to hobble around.
I prefer to do the surgery when it is warm so I don't have to be cold or worry about any slick sidewalks. I caught this early this time so I hope the ugly boot will be a short 4 week visitor. I will still be posting-- reading books--watching movies on my laptop and maybe working on some holiday stuff. I just can not watch TV all day way too boring.
I need to keep my feet in good shape so I can walk and walk all over Paris and other vacation spots. You see so much more when you walk.

Garden thoughts for 2015

These are two plants I want to add for next spring. One is Princess Alexandra clematis top photo, other is Princess Blush verbena everyone seems to be sold out right now on line and at local garden shops.
Gardening is a lesson in patience, persistence and planning. All good life skills. I do a lot of planning because I limit my colors in  the garden to pinks and white and tiny bit of purple and I really try for soft blush pinks when possible. I am always learning about new varieties.
I enjoy planning ahead in all areas makes life a lot less stressful-- I try and plan out vacations and holiday events as well as thinking ahead for garden.

What is old is new again...to me

I've been going to very nice resale shops and have found some real treasures. I love the Teri John suit in pink and black, the Talbots dress and jacket with a hint of sparkle and the Dana Buchman ultra suede like shell and pants.I spent about 55.00 for the above items and the dress and the suit were never worn --they dont look worn. I try and pick classic cut clothing and stick to my go to colors of pink, black, green, royal blue.
It is so fun finding a treasure at one of the shops.

Persian kitty Simba Kahn

This is Simba Kahn owned by the wonderful, responsible Persian breeder from CA. Molly Barr. I am on the wait list for a Persian from her.
All of my current cats are rescue kitties and I still volunteer at the no-kill cat shelter here in Marietta. I have had Persians before and they are of a sweet nature, fun cats with a laid  back personality usually.
Simba Kahn is about 7 I think. I love the pink tongue sticking out! Those big baby eyes and sweet face are so appealing. It may be a year or more before my little love is born and comes home to me but I am going to keep waiting. When I find a dog or cat breeder that is responsible and  raises them in a household setting I am willing to wait. So someday my Persian will come home and join our little band of happy cats and tiny dogs.
Are you waiting on a little love?

My birthday

 Madison Court house

Several pretty old homes I like.

Today is my birthday. I won't tell you which one! I am holding at 39. For my birthday I wanted to go to my favorite tiny city of Madison, GA and have a custard style chocolate ice cream cone at Ricky D's. Ricky D's is new right on the square and so yummy. They also show movies in the back theatre and  sell hot dogs and other fountain foods too.
Pink Boy bought me this big lion's head for the garden. We are both Leo's one week apart so we thought a lion would be nice in the garden.
The cats and dogs saved up and bought me another pretty porcelain tea caddy and a swan!
I had a fun birthday sight seeing around Madison, eating and shopping along the square.Even the street signs in Madison are pretty.
