Something about vintage china

While out and about Pink Boy found these lovely old limoges luncheon plates, I love the double gold edging and the sweet roses. Something about vintage china makes it even more special to me. The top covered box is not expensive or very old but the rosebud on the top is just charming so it came home with me.

Baby cats and Versailles

I found these images on Pintrest and just love them. My dogs and some of my cats sucked their thumbs when they were young just like the sweet baby in this last photo. So adorable,
In the winter when it is so gloomy and cold I enjoy looking at You Tube cat videos and playing with my cats.
The winter goes by quicker when we are busy! I know there were many dogs at Versailles and I would think there would be pet cats also. I will have to look into that. It will be interesting to research in my on going quest for knowing daily life at Court of Versailles.

Marie Antoinette tea pot

This tea pot was on EBay recently it is Dresden and from time to time the Carl Thieme Dresden shows up with her MA monogram on it. Usually plates but this time a tea pot! So cute would love to have it but bids go so high on this type of china.
I think she would approve if she were still around. Lovely pieces well made.

Time to refresh in the pink

These two images from Pinterest are my inspiration for some spring refreshing of the house. This time of year I am always looking forward to Spring and the Spring garden and I use the cold time to plan changes in decor. My house is already very pink but I want to add more off white and cream. I am looking for a small table like the one is photo on the bottom and I adore the pink fabric on the chair. I have a French sofa to recover and that damask would be great on it. either in a pale pink or a cream shade.
If anyone sees the damask fabric when you are out and about let me know as I am on a quest for it.

A winter walk in Paris... bundle up!

My favorite spot in the snow Pont Alexandre III

Snow makes the world beautiful and purified. Snow is especially lovely in Paris.
Paris does not typically get a lot of snow but when it does it is magical.

Would Marie Antoinette have these?

All of the above items are on Ebay or were on Ebay recently. I did not bid on them but admired them and feel that if Marie Antoinette were around today she would have objects like these.
I especially love the mechanical singing bird --they were popular in her era. There was an automaton of her playing a piano like instrument.  The tea caddy is limoges and just sold on Ebay.
The really rich and the really famous people of today tend to have goods brought to them to choose what they will purchase and it was the same in her day. The merchants came to her. One of my favorite scenes in the 2006 movie Marie Antoinette was the one where she is choosing material and trims.
We can relate to the last Queen of France on many levels and one common trait is that she did love to shop and loved pretty clothing as most women still do.
So fun to think about these lovely items being used and still around today for our pleasure.

Herend Chinese Bouquet

Pots de creme are useful little table top items. I will mainly use them for mousse or sorbet or possible yogurt with fruit. I was lucky to get these for Pinkmas. I love anything with a rosebud on the lid.The swan tureen lid came intact but the bottom of the swan is broken beyond repair so I will use lid for table arrangements.
I love to have fresh flowers in the house especially in dull months of winter. Trader Joe's usually has some pink and white flowers and this week they had white stock so fragrant.
I hope you use all your pretty table items. Don't save things just for dinner parties.

The Rose

This is a tough time of year for many of us. We need the sun and warm weather to feel good, to feel happy, to feel productive. I try, as I yearn for spring flowers, to keep the words to The Rose in my thoughts:

" Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love,in the spring becomes the rose."
I just love the image of pink rose and ice or frost so fresh.

One like thess sparklers ...something Marie Antoinette would like

I want to replace my dining room chandelier and this is what I am looking for something where it is all glass no wires or gold or silver showing. Very curvy and dripping with little chains of glass or teardrops. If anyone of you see one on line or in a Georgia shop let me know thru the blog. It should not be this hard but it is. I keep trying to channel my inner Marie Antoinette and bring the right chandelier (one that she would choose) to me.ha

Souffle-Marie and the Pinkmas Tree

Souffle having fun
My beautiful Souffle-Marie enjoys sitting among the tulle tree skirt and admiring the twinkie lights. She is a very quiet cat Himalayans usually do not chat much. In the 2 years I have had her I think she has meowed twice! She makes a little puffing sound sometimes when she wants something. None of the girls bother the tree or other decorations.
I love seeing her have fun we have loved her very much and been very tender with her since bring ing her home from the cat shelter where I volunteer. She has grown to trust us and even plays sometimes and likes snuggling a lot more than she did when she first arrived in my pink world. Good thing she likes pink too.
