Oops I've done it again...

Well I've done it again fallen in love with something that I thought I could whip up so quickly. It arrived a few months ago the kit with all the stuff and I thought it would be a snap. It requires a sewing machine(I do not have one) and probably more patience than I possess.. Most of my projects are of the quick and easy variety.
Now I feel awful and have to try and find someone who could make it for me.Been down that road before. If I were living in my beloved 18th century France( where in my head I am a lot of the time) one of my servants could do it for me or some girl at a convent school. Ha It is not easy not being Queen!

Pretty garden

Smith Gilbert Gardens
We live near this garden and had never visited. So last Saturday we toddled over there. It is a lovely house  built in 1870's I think they told us. The property was purchased in 1970 and has been lovingly tended. There are 30 sculptures and many mini gardens, a pond and  a bonsai area and a fun veggie garden too.It takes about an hour to tour .

Poesy

A poesy for you dear reader. I feel such joy when I pick flowers I have grown in my own garden. I have been extremely lucky growing sweet peas and salvia and cleome here in the hot, humid South. I love to use the salvia ( it is an annual Coral Nymph it reseeds) as a filler in arrangements.
Just a petit merci for reading my blog

Versailles newly open apartments of the King's daughters

Versailles continues restoring rooms and 6 rooms of the nine that belonged to Mesdames are now open. The sumptuous apartments of the King's daughters tell a story of privilege and female history. As unmarried daughters they were not that powerful but they were the object of the King's love. He spared no expense in their quarters.
When I visited a few years ago these rooms were not completed and now when I return in a few weeks I will get to see something new! That is one reason I always try to visit the chateau at least one day every time I am in France.I love the pretty colors and the tassels and the feminine furniture. I think, for me, that is a large part of why I love French furniture it is so feminine and light. Here is the link to read more:

Souffle-Marie helps me

I surmise that since Souffle-Marie sleeps with me on the bed most nights that she feels she must help me make it. Especially when I take all the various linens off and begin to put fresh linens on she always jumps up and "helps". Himalayan tend to be quiet, observant, and docile cats. She fits the bill to a T. She shadows me all day checking to make sure I am doing everything correctly around the house.  She brings me such joy and comfort--I hope I give her something in return.
At the no-kill cat shelter Good Mews where she was waiting for me to adopt her they have a sign up" No time spent in the company of cats is ever wasted." I don't know who said that but it is true.

Austenland !

Austenland hits theatres on August 16 in USA. I hope it comes to Atlanta area. I read the book by Shannon Hale a few years ago. There is also a book sequel Midnight in Austenland.
The movie looks like so much fun, as was the book, starring Kerri Russell and Jennifer Coolidge -one of my favorite actresses.  It is all based on the main characters obsession with all things Jane Austen. She goes on holiday at a Jane Austen resort(for lack of a better name) where you can totally immerse yourself in the period.
I am a devoted Jane Austen reader. I believe Pride and Prejudice is the most perfect novel ever written in English. The spin-off books and movie adaptations are always fun --none as perfect as Jane's books but entertaining.
to read more about the movie go here:
I also believe there are trailers and Youtube videos.

Pink Chanel does it get any prettier than this?

Oh how I love Chanel and pink Chanel is even better. I love the makeup and the handbags and totes. These pink suits are my idea of heaven. How I wish I will find one someday at a consignment shop or vintage clothing boutique. I have several "Chanel style" jackets I would love one real one and it has to be pink or black or pink and black. Just dreaming of fun pinkness.

Swan tureen Birthday Gift

Today is my birthday ( I'm like Jack Benny holding at 39 ha) and look what my wonderful girls got for me on Ebay. Who knew cats and dogs could open a Paypal account and using the mouse ( the cats did that part) clicked on this swan tureen!? It is my second swan tureen the first one is different and has a crack so I can't actually use it for food.
I love this one because it is all white no stupid flowers or weird colored beak. The tray is in perfect shape and it was made in Italy in 1950-60's.  Right now she is resting on the side board but soon will be a centerpiece on the table.
I have wanted one like this for a long time always checking ebay and other auction sites.
Merci to my cats and dogs and

My birthday is almost here

"Let them eat cake!" Even though she never said it we still envision Marie Antoinette expressing that thought.I will not be eating cake on my birthday--maybe a small brownie or a little sherbet. I am watching what I eat before the trip to Paris.I hope to drop a few pounds.
Just loved this very pink, very MA photo. Hoping for pink gifts and most of all some time with friends.

Marie Antoinette tags and other pretties

Paulette at Paper Nosh  click here:http://lapinkpaperie.blogspot.com/  has just added some new items to her line of wonderful papers, invitations and cards. I've already placed an order for the Marie Antoinette tags in the top photo. I will have to dream up a party so I can order the lovely mint and pink invitations too.
I think presentation of gifts and party invitations is very important. Not just for the visual pleasure, but lovely paper sets the tone and tells the guest or gift recipient that you care.
I save all my invitations that I send out so I can remember what I have sent and also just fun to have them all in a box. Looking through them brings back many happy memories.
